Katy Harvey is a London based artist, she studied her Ba Hons degree in fine art painting at the Norfolk Institute of Art and Design in Norwich (est 1845) and in the years following explored every avenue of painting, drawing and installation art.
In the last year Katy has spent her time walking the streets of London observing and sketching the life within them. Her newest work is concerned with exploring the nostalga of modern life. Katy says,
“In an age obsessed with cctv and celebrities the joys of the day to day minutiae of life go unobserved. A couple kissing by a cash point machine or an old man dressed in grey who walks in the rain alone like a ghost not seen by even his neighbours. The beauty of the city pavement after the rain with traffic lights, sign posts springing up like trees.”These flashes of the divine present themselves like gifts. The most unexpected delights of nature and humanity are there for us if we look up from our iphones.”
The depth and maturity of Katy’s work has captured the attention of both private and corporate clientelle. Katy has worked as an Art Director in the film industry on films such as Ian McEwan’s “Enduring Love”, Hanif Kureishi’s “Venus” and Phillipa Gregorys “The Other Boleyn Girl”. More recently Katy’s artwork is being used in both film and television.
